People
I find that working on portraits is fascinating and an enjoyable challenge as every face is different.
My portraits are usually in charcoal or graphite but I turn to oils or watercolour for more considered work.
Animals
Animals are one of my favourite subjects to portray - there are so many different species to choose from - whether wild or tame, all have their charm.
Flowers
Nature is full of wonderful opportunities for drawings and painting - there is a huge diversity of flowers to inspire me.
So many different shapes and colours and every season brings different varieties.
Landscapes and Seascapes
When the weather permits there is nothing to beat plein-air painting. The hunting down of a suitable subject and view point, and then the simplification, composition, etc.

Still Life
If the weather is inclement, then still life paintings come to my rescue. I can find inspiration in everyday objects and treasures brought back from my time living abroad over the years.
Still-life is a subject I don’t often turn to but when I do, it is always enjoyable.
